Founded in 2011 by former racing driver Mario Haberfeld, Onçafari began at Caiman Pantanal with the goal of conserving jaguars and valuing native wildlife through responsible tourism. Over the years its work expanded and today, after more than a decade of activity, Onçafari celebrates a history dedicated to the conservation of Brazilian biodiversity.
Currently, Onçafari operates across eight fronts: Ecotourism, Science, Reintroduction, Education, Social, Forests, Fire Prevention, and Advocacy. This approach allows environmental challenges to be addressed holistically connecting wildlife conservation, biome preservation, social transformation, and public awareness. Scientific data collected over the years also supports public policy development and assists other conservation-focused institutions.
The jaguar is a symbol of nature’s balance and caring for it means caring for the entire forest and the territories that sustain life around it. For this reason, Onçafari has expanded its efforts to protect natural areas, expand territories, and conserve ecosystems. By preserving the jaguar’s habitat, Onçafari reinforces the health of the entire environment because where there are jaguars, there is life in balance.
